New Naga outfit vows to protect Manipur’s territory

IMPHAL, May 6 : Claiming to be an autonomous revolutionary group which was formed in the year 2008 to save the territorial integrity of Manipur, the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front, MNRF, has made known its stand against anyone big or small who challenges and tries to bring disunity among the people of Manipur, while threatening to strike against such enemies of the party.

A release from the group’s publicity secretary, C Rocky said the outfit was formed under the leadership of Allen Siro and unlike the NSCN(IM) does not claim to be a government, but is a revolutionary group working for the welfare of the people of Manipur.

The MNRF has said it does not collect house tax, ration tax but helps the people in the areas it operates, although it has also said that it will collect 3 percent as party funds from any development work, contract, scheme and employees of the government offices etc.

Flaying the NSCN(IM) for its arbitrary policies it has said the NSCN(IM) considers itself a government, imposes taxes, exempt and give order to award contract or supply schemes to a few hand-picked contractors along with projecting election candidates by depriving the rights of the people under the behest of the gun.

Asking if the NSCN(IM) thinks it can solve the Naga problem by sending a lone MP from the Outer Manipur seat, the MNRF questioned why NSCN(IM) leader Th Muivah does not fight the elections himself instead of capturing votes for Mani Cheranamei by harassing other candidates.

It further asked the NSCN(IM) what it had done for the Naga people as a government as also for the welfare of their cadres who had sacrificed their lives for their cause.

It also questioned how the ordinary people who joined the NSCN(IM) and became officers suddenly started living opulent lives, wondeing if the NSCN(IM) had a system of salary for its members.

The MNRF also appealed in its release to all armed organisations of the region to work and go hand in hand by reasoning together for their cause, stating that they would only become laughing stocks if they could not cooperate among themselves.

NSCN-IM trying to cover up triple murder case : MNRF

Imphal, February 28 : The Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) has accused the NSCN-IM of trying to cover up the case of triple murder committed by NSCN-IM's cadres.

In a press release, C Rocky, Information and Publicity Secretary of MNRF today quoted the charges levelled against the slain SDO in the confessional statement of the prime accused of the triple murder case, 'Lt Col' H Ningshen of NSCN-IM, which appeared in this newspaper on February 25 under the headline "Three reasons why he killed".

Rocky stated that whether the three charges levelled by H Ningshen against the slain SDO were true or false, he had some reasons to kill him.

But what are the reasons of killing the two subordinate staff, he asked.

Further the MNRF would like to know how the SDO was closely associated with the Naga UG group so called Aleng gang.

How about the NSCN-IM's associatons with government officers of Manipur and levying tax from every government departments, contractors, individuals and businessmen of Manipur, he asked.

Above all these, had not the NSCN-IM served Hebron's recommendations to the bureaucrats of Manipur to award contract works and had not it received positive responses from them, Rocky asked.

He stated that H Ningshen's confessional statement is nothing but an attempt to cover up the NSCN-IM's dirty face and terrorist activities carried out during the ceasefire and peace process.

It is also a political conspiracy to incite communal flare up in Manipur in which the Naga community would be forced to break and pack up.

If the NSCN-IM thinks that having nexus with other Naga UG groups is illegal, why did the NSCN-IM have nexus with the Ukhrul DC as its bank manager, he further asked.

If cadres of NSCN-IM could kill a government officer of Manipur charging him with having link with Naga UG group, why not criminal proceedings be initiated against the Ukhrul DC for having close nexus with the Nagaland based UG group? And why not NSCN-IM be treated as a terrorist group, the Information and Publicity Secretary of MNRF further asked.

He stated that the present SPF government of Manipur has been watching the NSCN-IM's acts of high handedness in the hill districts of Manipur for the last seven to eight years pretending as if nothing was happening in the hill districts.

Development funds of Ukhrul has been obviously siphoned off to the NSCN-IM through the DC even before or during the ceasefire with the Government of India, Rocky charged in his press release.

Moreover the NSCN-IM has been involved in every state election, the press release stated and added if the state government fails to initiate criminal proceedings against the DC Ukhrul for having link with NSCN-IM and also if the Manipur government fails to book and punish the culprits involved in the triple murder case in a befitting manner, it will be assumed that Ukhrul district is counted as a part of Nagaland state by the SPF government and also ceasefire is extended to Ukhrul, Rocky stated.
