Excursion returns from Kolkata

IMPHAL, Jan 18 : A reception function was held today at the Red Sheild Division at Leimakhong on the return of a excursion organised by the 27 Sector Assam Rifles as part of military civic action for students of Churachandpur.

The excursion visited other parts of the country and interacted with students there. The team was led by two teachers, Joshep VL Ralte of Don Bosco School and L Mary Haokip from HM High School and 16 boys and 10 girls from various Churachandpur schools took part in the excursion.

The tour was flagged off on January 6 by the commander of HQ 27 Sector Assam Rifles from Tuibong Camp. Major General Shakti Gurung, the General Officer Commanding of the 57 Mountain Divison was the chief guest at the function.

The chief guest said that this was the first time that these students moved out of Manipur and could explore the rich cultural heritage of the country. The team stayed at Guwahati and Kolkata. The tour started their return journey on January 14 and were recieved by senior army officers and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Rangaphar on January 16.
