Govt employees set to step up ceasework

Imphal, Jan 17 : The agitating Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of the All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and the All Manipur Government Employees' Organization (AMGEO) on Friday informed that the council would intensify its ongoing cease-work strike demanding the 6th Central Pay Commission's recommendation and other demands for the employees working in the state.

According to a press statement released by the secretary, JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO, Ch.

Chandramani Singh, sitting in groups of the employees of various departments and offices will be held at different office complexes till January 31 in order to strengthen their ongoing ceasework strike.

Further the statement also urged the State Government employees to participate in the group sittings and added that no failure exception would be granted.

In this regard, group sit in was also organized at the Veterinary Department, Sanjenthong in Imphal East on Friday under the aegis of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO demanding the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission.

It may be mentioned here that the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO launched the complete ceasework agitation from November 27 last year demanding implementation of the 6th Central Pay Commission's recommendation and other demands for the employees working in the State.

Endorsing the ceasework strike many Government Departments such as the All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare, Manipur State Pensioners' Union, Medical Department Employees Association, All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Associations, Veterinary Department and the Nurses' Association of Manipur have joint in the agitation.

The various organizations under the aegis of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO will continue with the ceasework strike until the State Government implements the 6th pay commission, conveyed the press statement of the JAC.

It may be noted that the ongoing agitation of the JAC has affected much of the functionaries of the State Govt offices in the State.

On January 2 of this year, the JAC reportedly sealed all the Govt offices in the State capital including those in the nine districts of the State and the JN hospital, Porompat in Imphal East.
