Bus shelter inaugurated at Leimakhong

Imphal, Feb 13 : General officer Commanding, 57 Mtn Divn, Maj Gen Shakti Gurung, VSM, today inaugurated a new bus shelter at Leimakhong.

The bus shelter was constructed by local people of Leimakhong and Prem Nagar villages with the help of 557 Army Service Corps Battalion of Red Shield Division as part of Military Civic Action Programme, A PIB (Defence Wing) statement informed.

It said the need for such a bus shelter was being felt by the villagers numbering about 2500 for a long time.

Now that the bus shelter has come up, it will protect the passengers, specially women and children from rain and sun, and will also provide them a centralised place to catch bus/van going to Imphal or other places.

Chairman of Leimakhong Village Committee, JK Paite, Chairman of Prem Nagar Village Committee, Man Bahadur Thapa, Chairman of Vengnoum Ex-Servicemen Colony Village Committee Mangkholam Lhouvum have expressed gratitude to the GOC for implementing their request for a bus shelter and agreeing to inaugurate the same today for public use.
