IMPHAL, Feb 5 : As far as globalisation is concerned, Manipur should not stand isolated but should compete, said Prof MV Rappai of the Insititute of Chinese Studies while delivering a lecture on `Growing influence of China in south east Asia -impact on north eastern India` today at the Hotel Imphal.
Today`s reception and interaction function was organized by the Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur and was attended by other special dignitaties including Yengkhom Surchandra Singh, retired IAS and MLA, Mairembam Prithviraj Singh, MLA, M Harekrishna, MCS, director,
education (S), government of Manipur and Prof DS Sharma, retired principal of the DM College of Science.
Speaking to the IFP Prof MV Rappai said that Kolkata University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University offered courses in Chinese studies and very soon the Manipur University would also start Chinese language courses. This will help further in knowing the culture and tradition of a distant land which would be to the benefit of the coming generations, he added.
"In today`s context, the Chinese are capturing the world market. North east singularly can`t capture the market. We need a thorough study. There are so many options available. Money is a secondary process and place is not an issue. Planning is required before hand then only we can proceed," he observed.
