Imphal, November 14 2009: The Zeliangrong Students' UNion, Barak Valey has strongly condemned the alleged high handedness of 11 Assam Rifles, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
The Union lamented that troops of 11 Assam Rifles posted at Azuran in Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district burnt down barns of the villagers of Longchai in Tousem terming them as hideouts of UGs.
Besides burning down the barns of the villagers, the AR men also terrorised the people of Longchai on the pretext of counter insurgency operations.
The Union has appealed to the higher authority of Assam Rifles to refrain its jawans from terrorising the innocent civilians on the pretext of counter insurgency operations.
