Foundation Laid for Tourism Complex

IMPHAL, Feb 16: The foundation stone for a tourism complex was lain today by TN Haokip, minister for tourism department, PHED and information today at the office of the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association, Lamdan in Bishnupur district.

The tourism complex is to be built with a budget of Rs. 1.14 crore under the Manipur tourism department and TP cell of the cooperative department.

The complex will include an auditorium, adventure club, administrative block, museum, staff quarters and an open air theatre which will be the first of its kind in the north east.

Speaking at the occasion, TN Haokip said that as the complex was going to be the first of its kind in the north east he wanted it to be built very carefully and added that as the area of Lamdan was facing shortage of water, he had planned to take up a water supply project and appealed to the people of the area to preserve the trees.

T Manga Vaiphei, MLA from Henglep also expressed his happiness at the coming up of such a complex and asked the people of the area to give cooperation.

Today`s function was also participated by BB Sharma, secretary of the tourism department, Thaitaungam Maringei, village chief, T Pamei, IAS, Rajkumar Ranendrajit, Yambem Laba and other enthusiasts of mountaineering and trekking.
