Imphal, Nov 22: A Day of Hope cum Children`s Day was observed today by Manipur Domestic Workers` Movement (MDWM) at Don Bosco Savio Hall, Chingmeirong.
The function was attended by Dr. S Vaiphei, MO, HQ IGAR (South), Rev. Fr. C.C. Jose, Mary Immaculate Parish Priest and Majaguila, councillor of IMC as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Addressing the function, Dr. Vaiphei highlighted the various programmes taken up by Assam Rifles for the welfare of people especially of health and medical services and appealed the domestic workers to work sincerely with deep faith in God.
Fr. C.C. Jose, the President of today`s function, announced for free education to be given to the children of domestic workers at Don Bosco School with the kind support from Bosco Mangal.
A domestic worker also expressed her grievances and hardship faced in her day to day life and urged the government agencies to render certain services that can raise their standard of living.
Later, various songs and dances were presented by the children of domestic workers as a part of children`s day.
