Imphal, February 16 : The 8th K Birendra Kumar Singh memorial Golf Tournament organised by Manipur Golf Association was held at Mantripukhri Ecological park today with K Indrajit claiming the overall title in the Category I competition.
The category II crown of the tournament was wrested by Maj Gen AK Choudhury.
In all 18 golfers participated at the tournament, informed PRO IGAR (S) in a statement while adding that a total of 10 prizes were distributed to the position winners of different categories.
The Chief Minister O ibobi Singh, who graced the day-long competition as the chief guest, appreciated efforts put in by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Golf Club at Mantripukhri for the development of the game in Manipur, the PRO release added.
The CM is also informed to have conveyed of a decision to encourage and promote Golf amongst other sports in the State.
O Ibobi also presented equipment to the Mantripukhri Ecological park for assistance to the park authorities in the maintenance and upkeep of the park.
