IMPHAL, Feb 12 : A joint meeting of the Kangpokpi Urban Town Committee (KUTC), Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU), Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation (KWWO) and Kuki Students` Organisation, Sadar Hills (KSO) on February 10 has formed a joint action committee on the brutal massacre of late Leikhongam Khongsai, 37, of Kangpokpi Ward No. 7 by the Khurkhul Makha Leikai on January 11, 2009.
The JAC has denounced the government`s handling of the case and the attitude of the Khurkhul panchayats. Further, the JAC condemned the brutal killings and quetioned if a person can be mercilessly hacked or murdered on the charge of petty thievery or robbery without trial.
Asking the governement and law enforcing agencies to investigate and settle the case by booking the culprits as per existing law on or before February 14, the JAC said that if the government ignored the appeal any form of agitation could be taken up by them for which the government would have to bear the responsibility.
