New academic calendar in Manipur from this year

IMPHAL, Jan 12: The Manipur Education Department has decided to start a new academic calendar from this year for all government and private institutes under the Manipur Government. Earlier, all academic sessions ended in December and new session started by February. Director, Education Schools, M Harekrishna said the new session would commence from April 1.
However, for class XI it would be July 1. Competitive Scholarship Examination for Classes V and VIII will be held by third Week of May. The summer vacation for all classes up to XII would now be for only 15 days from June 1 to 15. Admission fee shall now be taken only once as long as a student remains in the school. All students reading in Class VIII in all the Government /Government, Aided/Government recognized schools are to be registered to the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur.
All students will be allotted individual Registration numbers by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur without which he/she will not be allowed to appear in Class VIII examination and admission to the next higher class. Elementary Stage and Secondary Stage Curriculum and Syllabus/Text books/Rules and Regulations/Scheme of Examination as prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur should be strictly followed, it was added.
